Thank you to all of those who attended the 2014 Annual Meeting to make it such a success. The annual meeting in Seattle gives all of us who provide obstetrical care to the women of Washington State the opportunity to stay current on clinical topics and stay connected to fellow obstetrical care providers.
Our ability to work as a team provides more consistent excellent care for all of our patients and allows us to stay cohesive as we navigate the constant changes in obstetrical care delivery.
At the clinical meeting, our membership elected the following slate of officers for the 2015 year:
President – Kim Herner, MD – Covington
President-elect – Carolyn Kline, MD – Seattle

Our plans for the next year include our Annual Meeting, December 4-5, 2015. Also, our website has had an overhaul, plus we will be adding a Career Center for the convenience of our members. In the Career Centers, residents can post a resume at no charge, and clinics/etc. can post new opportunities as well as search resumes for a small fee.
The WSOA works closely with the Washington State Medical Association to ensure the care of women in our state remains the highest quality.
Thank you for your support of the WSOA and we hope to see you December 4-5 for the WSOA 2015 Annual Meeting at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle.

Greetings fellow WSOA members!
Spring is just around the corner and our Washington State roads and mountain passes are at last more easily navigated. Perfect timing as we have received an invitation from the Washington State Psychiatric Association to their annual meeting Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Seattle. The theme for their meeting this year is reproductive-related mood disorders, a condition we all address in our daily practices. If you are interested, click here.
I would also like to introduce our new association executive Darla White. She and Leena DerYuen have worked hard to transition our administrative affairs to the WSMA specialty societies division. She is our new primary contact for all your questions regarding your member benefits. We are rebuilding our website and, when complete, plan to include member updates, a jobs board for members to post and search for professional positions along with an electronic means to apply for or renew your membership and register for our annual meeting December 5-6, 2014. Should any of you have ideas for inclusion in our new website, please let me know!
The scientific program for our annual meeting is nearly complete. We are looking forward to some excellent talks that include anti-coagulation in pregnancy, cardiac disease in women: pregnancy and beyond, STAN and a practical approach to ICD-10 coding for obstetrics, gynecology and office practice. Hope to see all of you there.
Rita Hsu MD
